Leonie Lord - illustrator
About Leonie Lord
After studying illustration at Central St. Martin’s in London, Leonie worked for many years as an editorial illustrator. But then she was given the fantastic opportunity to illustrate The Dirty Great Dinosaur by Martin Waddell and she soon discovered illustrating picture books about dinosaurs, gorillas and other animals with funny names and interesting habits was much more up her street. Leonie has a very large collection of fat (and extremely blunt) pencils which she uses in combination with her computer to create her illustrations. She lives with her husband and two sons in Gloucestershire in an old creaky house which has an untidy ghost who is always moving pencils and pencil sharpeners. Apart from picture books her pastimes include gardening, slug management and recovering tiny (but very important) pieces of Star Wars Lego from under things.Website
