Stephanie Taylor is a children's author from London. Her first picture book I'm Going to Be a Princess won the 2024 Reading Rocks Book Award for KS1 (Nosy Crow 2023.

Mum of two adult children, Stephanie lives in South East London with her husband Michael. She loves reading and writing children’s books. And if she visits a bookshop, you will definitely find her in the picture book section. (Probably embarrassing herself by laughing out loud.)

For more than 20 years Stephanie has had the privilege to work in primary education. But it always saddens her that there aren’t many books that represent her children - or the culturally diverse children she works with.

Stephanie has a real passion for books and says ‘if in some small way my enthusiasm encourages a child to pick up a book and read – then I’ve done my job!’. The challenge of a child telling her they don’t like books or reading is one she can’t resist – determined to find a book they cannot put down.

At home, she loves music and will channel her inner Misty Copeland to Prince’s ‘The Beautiful Ones’ in the kitchen (whilst her husband isn’t around to catch her out).

The dream, for Stephanie, would be to live six months of the year in the Caribbean writing children’s books, and six in London close to her family.

Stephanie's represented by The Catchpole Agency.
