Sarah Edmonds's first picture book as author-illustrator came out in 2023. Sunshine Pie is a warm-hearted celebration of food and community, complete with recipe in the back.
Sarah is a self-taught illustrator with an utterly memorable palette.
Growing up on a farm in the Welsh Borderlands, her childhood was full of adventures in farmyards and forests. She started drawing and making back then and never stopped.
Sarah's been producing and selling her own prints, cards and textiles since 2013. Her Tits design proved particularly popular with bird lovers, and led to For the Pun of it - a whole range of designs. They now grace prints, tea-towels, mugs and an array of homewares, cheering up kitchens across the country.
She has also painstakingly designed animal craft kits for Walker and the RSPB, and a build-your-own-globe kit for Quarto.
Sarah is inspired by vintage print production, instructional children's illustration and mid-century colour palettes. Those influences show - she has a particular eye for colour and a unique, memorable palette.
In 2021 Sarah illustrated three books about animals and the natural world: Save Our Species by Dominic Couzens, All Things Change by Anna Claybourne and Funny Bums, Freaky Beaks by Sean Taylor and ecologist Alex Morss.
As you'd hope, the cover of Funny Bums - a delightful compendium of unusual animals - sports a monkey with a particularly peculiar bottom.
Sarah lives by the sea in Worthing, with her partner and their young son.
