Illustrator Nici Gregory had a busy 2024. She illustrated two funny middle grade books - deliciously eccentric Badgers are GO! by Susannah Lloyd, published by David Fickling Books. And raucous Nora and the Map of Mayhem by CBeebies's Joseph Elliott.

Lastly, a picture book - The Good Little Mermaid's Guide to Bedtime - by Elija Sumner. Nici's edgy, grumpy mermaid endpapers won a coveted 2024 Endies Endpaper Award!

Biography

Nici Gregory started illustrating in primary school, drawing in the margins of her exercise books. Through her formative years, she avidly followed the work of illustrators. Subsequently, after studying graphic design in Hamburg, she went on to work as an in-house illustrator for a marketing firm in Sheffield.

Realising her drawings in the margins (mostly animals in fancy clothes) continued to be her best work, she ultimately left the world of marketing. Choosing instead to create animal characters for children full-time, she never looked back.
