Rob Childs - author
Rob Childs was born and educated in Derby and went into teaching after graduating from Leicester University. He has always enjoyed writing and from the start got involved in school and university magazines, then went on to write travel articles and short stories for local newspapers, national newspapers and radio. He recognised a need for sports fiction for children and decided to have a go at writing such stories himself. He now has over 80 books to his name including the Big Match series, the Soccer Mad series and wide range of educational titles. Rob taught at several primary and high schools in Leicestershire where he now lives. He was very interested in school sports, and coached school teams and clubs and area teams in football, cricket and athletics. Rob has now left teaching but still manages to find time to visit schools and libraries and talk to children about books and writing. Rob is married to Joy, also a writer, and has a 'Lassie' dog called Rocky. He is a keen photographer and provides many of the illustrations for his wife's books.Books
