Emer Stamp is the award-winning author of two middle-grade series - Diary of Pig, and PESTS. 2023 saw her very first book, The Unbelievable Top Secret Diary of Pig re-released by Scholastic - in a shiny new full colour edition. Emer grew up on a farm in Devon. So naturally, her first ambition was to be a vet. But these dreams were cruelly dashed by her inability to pass A-level biology. Luckily for Emer - and perhaps the animal kingdom - she conceded defeat. Next she turned her attention to graphic design - specifically record sleeve design. But the LP inconveniently became obsolete just as she started her design degree. Emer hit third time lucky with a career in advertising. Moving to London in the 1990s, she worked her way through some of the UK's top ad agencies. Finishing up in charge of the team who created the John Lewis Christmas ads, Emer went out on a high - choosing to jack it in to spend her time writing stories about a farting pig instead. The Unbelievable Top Secret Diary of Pig - Emer's first hilarious, irreverent middle-grade book - was immediately popular with young readers. Three more Pig diaries followed. The Super Amazing Diary of Me, Pig, The Seriously Extraordinary Diary of Pig, and then The Big, Fat, Totally Bonkers Diary of Pig. This final Pig book won funniest book for 6-8 year olds in the 2018 Laugh Out Loud Book Awards. Daddy Fartypants is Emer’s first, unforgettably named picture book. Illustrated by Matt Hunt and published by Orchard, it has an enthusiastic following, with more than 500 5 star Amazon reviews. Described as "riotously funny" by the Guardian, Emer Stamp's second middle-grade PESTS series of books star a small, heroic mouse called Stix. PESTS and its sequels Return of the Pests glow in the dark, with a hidden message for readers. And of course, full of the same child-friendly humour which proved such a hit in the Diary of Pig books.
